Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator

What is the MBTI?

  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an instrument
used in understanding valuable differences between people.

  • Knowing type not only helps you appreciate your own
strengths, gifts, motivations, and potential growth areas, but
also helps you understand and appreciate how and why
    others may differ from you.

  • The information can truly lead to more constructive
    communication and relationships.

Everyone has a natural preference for one of the two opposites on
each of the four MBTI dichotomies.

  • Where they prefer to focus their attention and get energy
                         (Extroversion or Introversion)

  • The way they prefer to take in information
                         (Sensing or Intuition)

  • The way they prefer to make decisions
                         (Thinking or Feeling)

  • How they orient themselves to the external world
                         (Judging or Perceiving)

There are no right or wrong answers to the questions on the MBTI
assessment, just as there no right or wrong types.  In fact, all types
are good types!

In relationship counseling, having each partner take the MBTI can
be quite revealing and lead to better resolution of issues.  This
helps to soften animosities and criticisms that arise when a couple
do not see things eye-to-eye.
"If I accept you as you are, I will make you
worse; however, if I treat you as though
you are what you are capable of
becoming, I help you become that."
